At 老九品茶, education extends far beyond the confines of the classroom. Our extensive extracurricular program is a cornerstone of the Total Care Education System?, designed to provide diverse experiences that unlock each student’s full potential. It’s just weeks into Winter 2026 semester and CIC students have already engaged in a series of enriching activities, from experiencing the majesty of Niagara Falls and the physical challenge of the CN Tower Climb to exploring marine biology at Ripley’s Aquarium and historical wonders at the Royal Ontario Museum. This initial lineup is only the beginning. Whether seeking to acquire new skills or bolster personal growth, students will find opportunities in the following programs offered by the Student Leadership Development Office:

Student Leadership Roles: Developing Future Leaders

At CIC, we believe leadership is a skill refined through practice. The Student Leadership Development (SLD) department has kicked off the selection process for the following leadership teams yesterday!

  • Service Prefects: Dedicated leaders who drive volunteering and charitable initiatives, supporting both the school and our local community.

  • Athletic Council: Champions of sportsmanship and wellness who lead campus competitions and promote physical health.

All candidates have completed their interviews. Stay tuned—the final roster will be announced shortly!

CIC’s Halloween: Where Creativity Meets Spooky Fun! /news/cics-halloween-where-creativity-meets-spooky-fun/ /news/cics-halloween-where-creativity-meets-spooky-fun/#respond Wed, 05 Nov 2025 21:17:02 +0000 /news/cics-halloween-where-creativity-meets-spooky-fun/

Spooky season is in full swing at CIC, with creative costumes, sweet treats, and lots of Halloween spirit all around!

A huge thank-you to everyone who put their time, energy, and creativity into making this celebration such a memorable one – from our amazing students who showed up in their best costumes, to the staff and organizers who made every detail come together.

Our students showcased incredible creativity in this year’s Pumpkin Carving Contest at CIC.

Beyond the festive spirit, the contest encouraged students to collaborate effectively, and celebrate diverse ideas – valuable skills that go far beyond the classroom.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Aiaz Shaikhutdinov: Rising Star on the Fencing Strip /news/aiaz-shaikhutdinov-rising-star-on-the-fencing-strip/ /news/aiaz-shaikhutdinov-rising-star-on-the-fencing-strip/#respond Mon, 22 Sep 2025 15:29:56 +0000 /news/aiaz-shaikhutdinov-rising-star-on-the-fencing-strip/ Say hello to Aiaz Shaikhutdinov — Grade 12 CIC student and rising fencing star.
Aiaz picked up the sword at just 8 years old, and with multiple medals in both individual and team competitions in Russia, he’s showing what passion and hard work can achieve

“Fencing is like chess, but with physical exertion… It has taught me not to give up, to set goals and keep striving. There are ups and downs, but each time I must get up and keep working to reach new heights.”Now Aiaz is balancing his studies at CIC with five – six training sessions per week in Toronto at Tim’s Fencing Academy alongside coach Tim Svidnytskiy.
His dream? To become a Surgical Oncologist (urology specialization) — while never stepping away from the strip.
Aiaz is grateful for the coaches who shaped his journey: Zhanna Bikkin, Lyudmila Soboleva, Levon Akhverdyan, Loris Akhverdyan, referee Natalia Zhuravleva , and Murat Narin.
“There are no ex-athletes, especially fencers. Fencing is its own family, its own world — and I’m lucky to be part of it.”

This year’s Spring Festival brought sunshine, laughter, and unforgettable memories to campus!

Organized entirely by our amazing Residence Student Leaders team, the event was months in the making—from pitching to CIC’s Executive Leadership Team to planning every detail.

One of the highlights was the wide range of activities—large-scale inflatables, classic games like sack races and tug of war, giant board games, and a movie to cap off the night on our 30-foot screen.

We also had delicious treats from local favorites:

  • Crazy Cravings Ice Cream
  • Bubble tea from The Alley in Westdale!

Special thanks to all the Residence Student Leaders and staff whose dedication, creativity, and hard work made this incredible event possible.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring it to life—you created an experience our CIC community will never forget!
