Meet Quincy Bradley, CIC Grade 12 student — a trailblazer, deep thinker, and future leader. From being an invaluable member of CIC’s Robotics team to earning offers from top universities like Peking University and NYU Shanghai, Quincy’s journey is all about carving her own path with incredible courage.

Who have significantly influenced your academic journey at CIC?

Mr. Thomas Steele — my Grade 9 teacher and Robotics mentor for two years — played a huge role. From day one, he made me feel like I belonged. I was one of the founding members of the CIC Robotics team, and under his guidance, I eventually became part of the leadership team and served as Head of Partnerships.

At first, I was introverted and unsure, but Mr. Steele encouraged me to step up and lead with confidence. His belief in me shaped the leader I am today, and I’ll always be grateful for the impact he made.

How did you choose the universities you applied to?

For me, it came down to quality of life and future career opportunities. Growing up in a Mandarin-speaking environment in Vancouver, I felt deeply connected to Chinese culture. That’s why my top choices were all in China, especially for their strengths in business and global affairs.

Getting into Peking University (#1 in Asia , #14 globally) and NYU Shanghai was a dream come true! I also applied to a few Canadian schools as backups — but only ones I could see myself thriving in.

What advice would you give to future students?

Find balance. Choose something you’re passionate about but also be practical — think long-term and where that degree can take you. Don’t be afraid to dream big and question your limits.

Your definition of success is yours alone — whether it’s financial, personal, or purpose-driven. Stay true to your vision, stay focused, and most importantly… KEEP GOING!
